We are not using John’s full name because he is one of the numerous persons who use their own AI tools at work without their IT division’s consent.
Half of all knowledge workers utilize personal AI tools, per a Software AG poll.
According to the study, “those who primarily work at a desk or computer” are considered knowledge workers.
Some claimed they desired their own selection of tools, while others cited their IT team’s lack of AI capabilities as the reason.
John prefers Cursor, but his company offers GitHub Copilot for AI-supported software development.
